A Glass of Milk!

A True Story
One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left,  and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"  "You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness."

He said..... "Then I thank you from my heart." As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Year's later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.

Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all.

Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill.

She read these words.....

"Paid in full with one glass of milk"

(Signed)

Dr. Howard Kelly

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You, God, that Your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands."

I Asked Myself

When I woke up this morning

I asked myself

What are the secrets of success in life?

I found the answer right there, in my room.

The Fan said…
Be Cool
The Roof said…

The Window said...
See the world
The Clock said...
Every minute is precious
The Mirror said…
Reflect before you act
The Calendar said...
Be up-to-date
The Door said...

Letter from Abraham Lincoln to his son’s Headmaster

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the united states of America (1861 – 1865) is one of the world’s great statesmen for all time. Here is a letter written by Abraham Lincoln to the head master of  the school in which his son was studying, a letter so typical of the man who bore malice towards none and had charity for all.

He will have to learn, I know, that all men are not just, all men are not true. But teach him also that for every scoundrel there is a hero: that far every selfish politician, there is a dedicated leader…
Teach him that for every enemy there is a friend. It will take time, I know a long time, but teach, if you can, that a dollar earned is of more value then five of found.

Teach him, to learn to lose…And also to enjoy winning. Steer him away from envy, if you can, teach in the secret of quiet laughter.
Teach him, if you can the wonder of books…But also given quiet time wonder the eternal mystery of birds in the sky, bees in the sun, and flowers on the green hillside.

In a school teach him, it is far more honorable to fail than to cheat…
Teach him to have faith in his own idea, even if anyone else tell him they are wrong…

Teach him to be gentle with gentle people and tough with tough.
Teach him to listen to all men…But teach him also to filter all he hears on a screen of truth, and take only the good one that comes through.

Teach him, if you can, how to laugh when he is sad. Teach him there is no shame in tear.
Teach them to sell his brawn and brain to the highest bidder but never to put a prize tag on his heart and soul.

Teach him gently, but do not cuddle him, because only the test of fire makes the fine steel.
Teach him always to have sublime faith in himself because then he will always have some sublime faith in mankind.
This is a big order, but see what can you do… He is such a fine little fellow, my son!

Giving is Superior than Receiving

A young disciple, one day, was taking a walk with his spiritual leader (Saint) who was extra ordinarily friendly, kind and nice to his followers.

As they were walking on a small track in the lush green fields around, they saw a coat along with a pair of old shoes lying  in the path, which they supposed belonged to a peasant who was employed in a field close by, and who had nearly finished his day's work. The disciple turned to the Saint, asking "Shall I play a trick to the peasant? I will hide his shoes, and we will conceal ourselves behind those bushes, and wait to see his perplexity when he cannot find his shoes."

"My young buddy," answered the Saint, "we should never amuse ourselves at the expense of someone else. But I know you belong to a rich family, and may give yourself a much greater pleasure and satisfaction by means of the poor man. Put some coins into each shoe of the peasant, and then we will hide ourselves to watch how the discovery affects him." The disciple agreed to obey the suggestions and did so, and they both hide themselves behind the bushes close by.
The poor peasant soon finished his work, and came across the field to the track where he had left his coat and shoes. While putting on his coat he slipped his foot into one of his shoes; but feeling something hard, he stooped down to feel what it was, and found some glittering coins. Expressions of amazement and surprise could be seen upon his face.  He gazed upon the coins, turned them round, and looked at them again and again. He then looked around on all sides to find, who could place them in his shoes, but could not find anybody nearby.
He put the money into his pocket, and put on the other shoe; but his amusement was multiplied on finding some more coins in the other shoe.
His feelings overpowered him; he fell upon his knees, looked up to heaven and expressed aloud a passionate thanks to Allah Almighty. He spoke about his sick and feeble wife, and his children without bread, whom the timely bounty, from some unknown hand, would save from perishing.
The Disciple stood there deeply affected, and his eyes filled with tears. "Now," said the Saint, "are you not much more pleased and satisfied than if you had played your intended trick?"
The youth replied, "You have taught me a lesson which I will never forget. I feel now the truth of those words, which I never understood before:
"Giving hand is much more superior and blessed than the one receiving."

Echo of Life

A family went on a picnic trip to a hilly spot. They roamed about, had meals under the sunny sky, enjoyed the nature and had lot of fun. In the afternoon father along with his son went into the valley for walk. While walking on a shingle track between sky high oaks the son suddenly saw a snake moving on the track going down to valley. He screamed in fear AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!! To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountains "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
He forgot the snake and curious about the scream yelled "Who are you?"
He received the answer "Who are you?"

Angered at the response, he screams "Stupid!"
He received the answer "Stupid!"

He looks to his father and asked "What's going on?"
The father smiles and said "My son, pay attention."

And then father with a loud but subtle voice shouted "Enjoy the nature!"
The voice answered "Enjoy the nature!"

Again father shouted "You are a champ!"
The voice answered: "You are a champ!"

The boy was surprised, but could not understand the phenomena.
Then the father explained "People call this ECHO, but I call it LIFE.

It reciprocate you back with everything you deliver to it.
In fact our life is simply a reflection of our actions.

If you want love in the world, fill your heart with LOVE.
If you demand competence from your team, be competent and show your competence.

If you expect punctuality from your subordinates, be punctual first.

This relationship applies to everything, in all spheres of life;
Life is like a computer and follows the principal of GIGO, garbage in, garbage out. It returns you back what you give to it.

Life is reflection of your actions and will give you back everything you have given to it."

So always try to follow the right path, be truthful, be positive, be patient, be realistic, and be lively. You will enjoy the life and will be remembered with good words after you leave for the final abode.

Hazrat Luqman's Advice to his Son

Hazrat Luqman AS, one of Allah's messengers gave some precious piece of advice to his son, for successful living in the world here and hereafter. The 10 guidelines he gave to his son are words of wisdom, which if followed even today, enable us to live a happy, peaceful and successful life. Practice these guidelines, make them part of your character and enjoy a very prosperous life: -

1.             Hazrat Luqman AS told his son "Join not in worship others with Allaah. Truly, joining others in worship with Allaah is the greatest injustice and oppression indeed."

2.             He reminded his son that Allah has "enjoined on man to be dutiful and good to his parents. His mother bore him upon weakness and hardship". The total dependence of infants on their mothers is for two years. He also guides not to follow nonbeliever parents but treat them with kindness.

3.             Hazrat Luqman AS, tells his son that Allah's Knowledge is so perfect that the existence of anything, big or small, is acknowledged and controlled by Him. "If it be equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed, and tough it be as a rock, or in the Heavens or the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Certainly Allah is subtle in bringing out that grain, well aware of its place". He reminds his son about Allah's absolute control over His kingdom. Such might and power must not be challenged or ignored by anyone.

4.             Another great advice by Hazrat Luqman AS to his son is to establish regular prayer, on time and with the best possible performance. He said "O my son! Offer prayer perfectly." Prayer is the direct connection between a Human being and his Creator. Parents must take great care to teach and call upon their children to establish prayer.

5.             Hazrat Luqman AS advises his son to "enjoin (people) for good, and forbid from evil". If every Muslim observe this duty , then evil and mischief will have no place in Human being society.

6.             After the useful advice he offered his son, Hazrat Luqman AS recommended patience in implementing them, and in all matters of life. "Bear with patience whatever befalls you. For sure, these are some of the important commandments ordered by Allah with no exemption". Because patience is a righteous act ordered, and rewarded by Allah.

7.             Arrogance is an attribute of Allah alone and not for man. The Creator and Owner of the universe is the only One who deserves to be Arrogant. Allah warns arrogant people with punishment in Hellfire. Hazrat Luqman AS said  "And turn not your face away from men with pride."

8.             To be moderate is a great attitude anyone can possess. Hazrat Luqman advised his son "Do not walk in insolence through the earth. For sure Allah likes not each arrogant boaster." Remember Allah does not like that man is arrogant and proud of themselves.

9.             To be moderate in walking and talking is also one of Hazrat Luqman AS's advises to his son. "And be moderate (or show no insolence) in walking." Every divine religion offers a code of conduct for life but Islam offers comprehensive guidelines in this regard that will produce the best behavior and generate respect in mankind.

10.          Hazrat Luqman AS reminds his son that being harsh while talking will liken his voice to the braying of a donkey. Shouting does not win hearts, rather, it will offend and alienate people. "And lower your voice. Truly, the harshest of all voices is the voice (braying] of an ass!!"

Luqman shows great wisdom in his advice to his son. If Muslims parents take his example, and have their children implement these advises, then by Allah's permission our Ummah will be succeed in all walks of life.
