Phoenix Syndrome

By Abu Shazil
Pakistan is my pride. I love it the way a baby love his parents. The way mother loves her kids. Many a times I thought of settling abroad and had skill set which could earn me a very handsome living. But I always discarded this option and never gave it importance. Over the past few years my country, my love has become a bleeding wound because of the reason that my state administrators are playing in the hands of foreign powers. My fellow Pakistanis have forgotten the teachings of Islam. My mothers are not grooming their toddlers on the sunnah of Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH). My fathers have lost the sense of distinguishing between hard earned money and ill-gotten money. My kids have disregarded the lessons of respect for elders. My elite have stopped giving Zakat. My white collared have become self centered and my poor have lost faith. We all though claim that we are followers of Muhammad PBUH but it does not transpires from our actions, from our living, from our deeds. It is eminent that foreign powers are all out to destabilize my homeland but this is also a bitter fact that they are getting full support from within us. My astray country fellows are selling their services in the greed of few bucks and getting their names written in the list of traitors.

The attitude of my own people has incurred unbelievable loss to my land, my society my values, my ethics, my traditions and my religion. All the society norms have lost their true meanings. Change is eminent, change for the bad rather worst.

But I am sure that the land of pure was created in the name of Allah and He is going to take care of it. When I think about the ongoing situation I am reminded of a term Phoenix Syndrome.

Phoenix is a mythical bird that burns itself in the flames of a fire so that it could be reborn from the ashes. The Phoenix is resurrected to embark on the next phase of its life journey. The process of burning of Phoenix into ashes and taking rebirth from the ashes to live another life is called Phoenix Syndrome.

I believe that Pakistan is suffering from Phoenix Syndrome.  We are sitting on haystack of fire about to burn ourselves into ashes and to take rebirth from the ashes to start a new life. New Life, free from external pressures,  foreign intervention and fear of unknown. A life based on the teaching of Islam, our religion,  a complete CODE OF LIFE.

I am sure Pakistan, a country born on Islamic ideology has a role to play, role of a leader, leader of Muslim world. It is eminent, it is crystal clear, it is written on the wall.
